Asking for your support
Why I started this Substack
Folks,
I started this Substack to share my thoughts with you on the state of our election. After so many conversations with people across Alabama about our path to victory, I’ve been absolutely blown away by the community that’s taken shape. I can’t thank you enough for reading, commenting, and being part of this movement.
But today, I’ve got to use it to ask you for money.
I hate doing this. Fundraising is my least favorite part of campaigning. If it were up to me, our elections would be decided purely on the merits of the candidates and their visions for the future of our state, not based on who can spend the most on advertising or field operations.
But given the current state of affairs, it’s got to be done. Field operations and advertising really do take a lot of money. And if we don’t build this campaign up with support from folks like you, we leave the outcome of this election up to billionaires and powerful special interests who will spend whatever it takes.
I’ve seen what that kind of system looks like in Alabama, and it leads to a government that doesn’t listen, a system that shuts people out, and leadership that puts the moneyed and powerful ahead of the people.
So I’m asking directly: if you’re with me, can you chip in today?
Thank you,
Doug
